Daire Lyons-Santos
Tall and thin, with long dark hair, fair skin, and expressive green eyes, Daire is a pretty girl who, despite her mom’s job as a Hollywood make-up artist, isn’t much for “sparkly things” or artifice of any kind.
As the last in line in a long succession of Soul Seekers, Daire is the only one who can stop Cade Richter from destroying the town of Enchantment and the lives of the people who live there.
Guided by the spirit animal, Raven, Daire is a Daughter of the Wind—also known as a Wind Dancer—which pretty much means the Wind is her element.
Dace Whitefeather
Tall, dark, and completely dreamy with long dark hair, and icy-blue eyes banded by gold, Dace, is Daire’s fated one.
He is also the identical twin of her nemesis, Cade.
Though pure of heart, the fact that he’s been honing his magickal abilities over the years makes him a force to be reckoned with.
He is guided by the spirit animal, Horse.
Jennika Lyons
As one of Hollywood’s top make-up artists, Jennika bears the same bright green eyes inherited by her daughter, but otherwise prefers a more flamboyant appearance with her pink-striped platinum hair, her multi-pierced ears, and the tiny diamond stud that marks her right nostril. As a teen, she fell madly in love with Daire’s father, Django Santos, only to find herself pregnant with his child just after losing him in a motorcycle accident. When her parents died a short time after, she hit the road with Daire, and raised her on various movie sets around the world.
Paloma Santos
Daire’s Abuela (Spanish for grandmother), is tiny in stature, but big of heart. As a Seeker, she’s responsible for looking after the well being of the denizens of Enchantment, as well as preparing Daire to ultimately confront the enemy who threatens the town’s very existence.
Cade Richter
Though he looks like Dace on the outside, the resemblance stops there. Unlike his twin, Cade is the embodiment of malevolence.
While most people distinguish him from his twin by the way he keeps his hair short, Daire is able to discern the true difference between them: Dace’s eyes reflect—while Cade’s absorb.
He is guided by the spirit animal, Coyote.
Vane Wick
Up and coming international sensation, Vane Wick is every girl’s movie star crush (and most of their mom’s too!). While the matching mehndi tattoos he and Daire got in Morocco quickly fade, their story lives on in the tabloids.
Alejandro Lima
A young shaman in training from a powerful lineage, his marriage to Paloma was arranged, but that didn’t stop them from falling deeply in love. Though their union was cut short when Alejandro perished in a small plane crash on the way to visit family in Brazil, his legacy lived on in their son Django.
He is guided by the spirit animal, Jaguar.
Leandro Richter
An evil sorcerer with the ability to alter perception, Leandro purposely went after Chepi in order to sire a child with a magickal bloodline and a purely evil soul, only to end up with the twins, Dace and Cade.
As the mayor of Enchantment and the owner of its only hang out, the Rabbit Hole, Leandro is guided by the spirit animal, Coyote.
Jolon Whitefeather
Chepi’s father, a truly gifted, much revered medicine man, said to work miracles with a direct link to the divine.
He is guided by the spirit animal, Lion.
Chepi Whitefeather
mother to Dace and Cade, daughter of Jolon, a legendary healer said to share a direct link to the divine—Chepi refuses to forgive herself for that fateful day she fell under Leandro’s spell long enough for him to conjure the twins in her womb. Once thought to hold the same promise as her father, she’s turned her back on the healing arts and makes exquisite turquoise and silver jewelry she sells to tourists.
She is guided by the spirit animal, Hummingbird.
Chay Roanhorse
A Native American raised on the reservation, Chay is a wise, kind, and thoughtful soul who works as a vet, teaches Daire to ride, and gives her a beautiful paint horse to look after named, Kachina.
Paloma’s most trusted friend, and also her boyfriend, Chay is guided by the spirit animal, Eagle.
Lita Winslow
Pretty, popular, and used to being the center of everything, at first, Lita is not at all pleased by Daire’s arrival at Milagro High. Until she discovers Daire’s Hollywood past, her connection to the hottest celebrities, and decides to befriend her instead.
She is guided by the spirit animal, Opossum.
Auden Swift
Xotichl’s super-cute, super-genius, musician boyfriend who left high school at 15 to go to University, only to quit a short time later to focus on his band, Epitaph. Music and Xotichl—it’s pretty much what he lives for, and not necessarily in that order.
He is guided by the spirit animal, Otter.
Xotichl Gorman
With light brown hair, gray eyes, and a beautiful heart-shaped face, Xotichl may be legally blind, but what she lacks in vision is made up in an uncanny blindsight, and an ability to read the energy of everything around her.
Guided by the spirit animal, Bat, Xotichl is one of the rare few who cannot be manipulated by the Richter’s ability to alter perception.
Django Santos
Daire’s father who failed to heed his call as a Seeker and died a tragic, premature death as a result.
He is guided by the spirit animal, Bear.
The Worlds
The Middleworld
The world that we live in—yet most of us have only scratched the surface, remaining blissfully unaware of the hidden dimensions easily accessed by Those Who Know.
The Middleworld is inhabited by a multitude of beings—both human and demon alike. When exploring the other dimensions, one must proceed with great care and discernment, as it is often difficult to distinguish between those who have our best interests at heart—and those who do not.
The Upperworld
A truly enchanting, breathtaking world of light and love—the Upperworld is the most difficult to access, even by the most experienced Seeker.
It’s a world of great imagination, where love reigns supreme. It is inhabited by magical, benevolent beings who once walked alongside us, and have now taken a vow of guidance and service to others.
The Lowerworld
A beautiful, lush, and verdant paradise inhabited by the wise and loving spirit animals that guide us, the Lowerworld offers a diverse landscape of oceans, mountains, and desert—including the Enchanted Hot Spring where Daire and Dace meet in both their dreams and waking life.
While there are many levels to the Lowerworld, the nethermost region serves as home to the Bonekeeper—a mysterious entity with a skull for a face, a serpent skirt, onyx eyes, and beautiful red hair the color of flaming New Mexico sunsets. Sustained on the steady diet of stars she feeds on during the day, she collects the bones the dead bring to her as payment for passage into the afterlife. She is known as the Queen of the Lowerworld, and presides over Day of the Dead
The Lowerworld can be reached by journeying deep into the earth via one of Enchantment’s many vortexes.
